Um die Ausbildung der jungen Fachkräfte zu fördern, hielt ich auf Anregung des deutschen Botschafters in der Dominikanischen Republik, Herrn Dr. Volker Pellet, einen Larimar-Schleif-Kurs an der staatlichen Schule für Larimar in Bahoruco. Zusammen mit meinem Team von Lehrern, mit denen ich meine Kollektionen kreiere, konnten wir dem Nachwuchs fundierte Kenntnisse über Ästhetik in der Formgebung sowie deren exakte dreidimensionale Umsetzung vermitteln. Mein Ziel ist es, Bahoruco nicht als Herkunftsort von Larimar von weltweiten Investoren ausbeuten zu lassen, sondern in enger Zusammenarbeit mit der Regierung die Ausbildung vor Ort zu fördern, die einheimische Produktion zu stärken und die Bekanntheit von Larimar weltweit zu steigern. Nur so kann sich die LarimarVeredelung und -Vermarktung auch zum Wohle des Landes und seiner Bewohner entwickeln. [To encourage the education of young professionals, at the proposal of the German Ambassador to the Dominican Republic, Dr Volker Pellet, I taught a Larimar cutting workshop at the State School of Larimar in Bahoruco. Together with my team of teachers, who I work with to create my collections, we were able to provide the next generation with a profound knowledge of aesthetics in design as well as its precise three-dimensional realisation. It is my goal to not let Bahoruco, as the place of origin of Larimar, to be exploited by worldwide investors, but to work closely with the government to support local educational programmes, to strengthen domestic production, and to raise awareness of Larimar around the world. This is the only way so that the refinement and distribution of Larimar can grow for the benefit of the country and its people.] 26 27
